Our November Grantee: Ashley Ja’nae’s Creative Belonging Workshop

Our November Grantee: Ashley Ja’nae is an interdisciplinary artist and teacher who is facilitating “Creating Belonging”, a workshop that celebrates Black hair stories. Ashley Ja’nae aims to foster a sense of belonging, self-acceptance, and community care through reflective activities and collaborative art-making, centering Black women and femmes’ experiences and relationships with their hair.

November is National Native American Heritage Month

Did You Know: D.C. and the surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia are the ancestral homelands of Anacostans (also documented as Nacotchtank), the Piscataway, Pamunkey, the Nentego (Nanichoke), Mattaponi, Chickahominy, Monacan, and the Powhatan people.
