MICA Visiting Artist Talk Series: Judy Pfaff
I am the Director of Mt. Royal School of Art multidisciplinary MFA at MICA. I would like to apply for $2000 grant to invite Judy Pfaff to give a lecture on her work and individual critiques to Mt. Royal students, in addition to the fee offered by Mt. Royal School of Art. The lecture, planned for Tuesday March 19, 2024, will be free and open to the public. Judy Pfaff is a multimedia artist who has been widely recognized for her sprawling installations, that perhaps can be best described as “painting in space.” Since the mid-70s, she has been a very influential artist and teacher, and her work continues to inspire many young artists. Pfaff is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship (2004); Guggenheim Fellowship (1983); National Endowment for the Arts grants (1979, 1986); member, American Academy of Arts and Letters. Judy Pfaff had numerous solo exhibitions in major galleries and museums in the United States and abroad, including the Hirshhorn Museum. She exhibited in the Venice Biennale, represented the United States in the 1998 Sao Paulo Biennial, and showed three times in the Whitney Biennial (1975, 1981, and 1987).
